The challenge

Velona was a promising Beauty & Personal Care brand generating around $63k in monthly revenue, but growth was capped by a US-only footprint and an account run reactively rather than strategically. Advertising leaned almost entirely on bottom-funnel keywords, and there was no plan for reaching new audiences or new marketplaces.

With only twelve ASINs, the brand had also run out of easy wins inside search. It was already visible on the handful of terms its products could realistically win, and bidding harder on them only raised the cost of the same finite pool of demand. Growing meant either finding shoppers before they searched, or finding shoppers somewhere else entirely — and the brand had no mechanism for doing either.

Our approach

We took the account end-to-end and paired it with demand generation and geographic expansion.

  • Full account management — set the growth strategy, cleaned up the catalog and listings, and instituted disciplined reporting against revenue and margin targets.
  • Amazon DSP — launched programmatic display and retargeting to build awareness with new-to-brand shoppers and recapture high-intent browsers, feeding a wider funnel back into the account.
  • US + Canada — extended the catalog into the Canadian marketplace with localized listings and a ranking-focused launch plan.

How we worked

  1. 1

    Strategy and account cleanup

We replaced reactive week-to-week management with a written growth plan, then fixed the catalog, variations and listing content standing in its way.

  2. 2

    Search efficiency first

Before adding any new channel we tightened the existing campaigns, so DSP would be layered on top of a profitable base rather than papering over a leaky one.

  3. 3

    DSP retargeting

Detail-page viewers and cart abandoners were retargeted programmatically, recapturing high-intent shoppers the brand had already paid to attract once.

  4. 4

    DSP prospecting

In-market and lifestyle audiences were used to reach beauty shoppers before they ever typed a query, lifting new-to-brand orders as a share of the total.

  5. 5

    Canada launch

The catalog was extended into the CA marketplace with localized listings, a ranking-focused ad push and its own inventory plan.

The results

Monthly revenue grew from $63k to $158k — a 150% increase — with the newly launched Canadian marketplace adding incremental, defensible revenue.

The mix changed as much as the total: new-to-brand orders rose from 21% to 44% of sales while TACoS fell from 24% to 16%, meaning the brand was reaching genuinely new customers more cheaply than it had previously been reaching existing ones. Velona moved from a single-market brand dependent on bottom-funnel ads to a two-market brand with a real demand engine behind it.

“We went from guessing to a real growth plan — and a second marketplace we'd never have launched on our own.”

“Half our customers are now people who had never heard of us. That never happened when we only ran search ads.”
