Mobile conversion +52%

The brand's listings were reviewed on a desktop monitor and bought on a five-inch screen, where the title truncated mid-sentence and the key claim sat in an A+ module nobody scrolled to.

The challenge

Four fifths of the brand's shoppers were on a phone, and every listing had been reviewed and approved on a desktop. On mobile the consequences were specific and severe: titles truncated after about seventy characters, cutting off the shade and size; only the first three bullets appeared before a “read more” fold; and the A+ modules carrying the brand's ingredient story sat several screens down, past the variation picker, the bullets and the cross-sell carousels, where phone traffic almost never reaches.

The gap was visible in the business report as a three-point conversion difference between app and browser sessions that the team had assumed was normal for the category. It wasn't; it was the same page failing on the screen most people used.

Our approach

We rebuilt the page in the order a phone reveals it.

  • Front-loaded titles — the shade, size and core claim inside the first seventy characters, with the brand's long descriptors moved to the end.
  • The three bullets that matter — the top three rewritten to carry the whole argument, since the rest are behind a fold on mobile.
  • Image stack as the primary content — claims moved out of A+ and into frames two and three, where mobile shoppers actually look.
  • A+ reordered for mobile rendering, with the modules that stack worst on a narrow screen replaced.

Inside the ad account

Anonymized account view, rebuilt from the figures reported above: ad sales growing from $64k to $94k a month while ACoS falls from 31% to 23% across the 5-month engagement.

The results

Mobile conversion rose from 6.2% to 9.4% — +52% — closing almost the entire gap with desktop, which barely moved.

Revenue grew 43% on essentially unchanged traffic, and ACoS fell eight points because the same paid clicks now convert. The team's review process changed too: every listing is now approved on a phone before it goes live, which costs nothing and prevents the whole class of problem.

“We'd been approving our own listings on a 27-inch monitor for four years. The first time we looked at them on a phone was embarrassing.”
