Capturing the long tail: 640 new ranking terms for one product line
+640 ranking keywords
Storage products are bought for a specific place — under the sink, in a camper, above the washer. The brand's listings described bins; shoppers were searching for solutions to rooms.

The challenge
The category's head terms — “storage bins”, “organizer” — are expensive, generic and dominated by brands with far bigger budgets. The brand competed there because that is what its listings were written for: product-type copy describing dimensions and materials.
But nobody buys a bin in the abstract. They buy something that fits under a specific sink, inside a specific closet, in a camper van or above a washing machine. Those searches are numerous, cheap and almost uncontested, and the brand's copy contained none of that language.
Our approach
We rebuilt the catalog around where the product goes, not what it is.
- Use-case research — hundreds of place-and-purpose terms mined from reviews, questions and search data, then grouped into clusters.
- One cluster per ASIN — each product assigned the two or three use cases it genuinely fits, instead of every product claiming everything.
- Copy written to the cluster — bullets that name the place, the fit and the problem, which is what makes the listing rank and convert for it.
- Exact-match campaigns per cluster at low bids, to seed velocity where competition is thin.
Inside the ad account

Anonymized account view, rebuilt from the figures reported above: ad sales growing from $34k to $54k a month while ACoS falls from 27% to 21% across the 7-month engagement.
The results
Ranking keywords in the top three pages grew from 290 to 930 — 640 new terms — and organic revenue rose 87%.
The economics of the long tail are what make this work: those searches cost a fraction of the head term and convert better, because the shopper's question is specific and the listing now answers it. ACoS fell six points while total revenue grew 59%, with no new products in the catalog.
“Turns out nobody searches for “storage solution”. They search for “under sink pull out for a 30 inch cabinet”.”
